Community services - 91ÉäÇø: Specialist services & support for young people facing adversity

91ÉäÇø

Kibble Community-Based services support young people from the age of 5 – 26 years, providing warm, welcoming houses, love and support in the heart of communities. We currently have eight houses across the West of Scotland within easy reach of schools, transport and local amenities.

All young people at 91ÉäÇø have access to our wide range of integrated services including consistent care, an inspiring education and therapeutic supports and interventions. This is tailored toward individual need and support extended to young people’s families.

Each house varies in location from a bungalow in semi-rural Ayrshire surrounded by countryside to quiet cul-de-sacs on the outskirts of Glasgow and flats close to the historic centre of Paisley. House sizes vary and range from two-bed to five-bedroomed properties, and each follow the rhythms and routines of a typical family home. The number of care staff in each house varies depending on the needs of the young people who live there. In some cases, supported may be provided on a one-to-one basis.

The Right Support at the Right Time

Young people stay in a house where the support and culture are tailored to their own individual needs and that of others who live there. The houses are sensitively designed to meet the needs of young people with experience of trauma. Each house has been designed with flexibility in mind and therefore, depending on need, can adapt to single or co-educational or smaller group living with higher levels of support. We recognise that young people’s situations can change, and we are able to adapt care and support to best meet their needs.

Dedicated Care and Support

Around every young person is a fully integrative team of supportive adults from child and youth care workers, teachers, instructors, psychologists, health and wellbeing specialists, youth advocates and a wide range of other adults who are there every day to provide care, support and positive opportunities for young people.

Each young person has a dedicated key worker, their ‘go to person’ who is a familiar face and supports them across all aspects of their care and during their time at 91ÉäÇø.

Many young people living within the community houses are moving towards adulthood and learning vital life skills to help them manage their own tenancy. This transition is gradual and often young people will be supported through our Housing Support service to maintain continuity of care and support. Through the Housing Support Service, young people have the opportunity to develop the skills they will need to live on their own, for example support with employment, education, budgeting and cooking.

Education and Employment

Depending on age and stage, young people staying at our community houses are expected to attend education full-time, whether at school, college or university. Alternatively, they may be undertaking a work placement or in full-time employment. Our staff teams actively support and encourage young people in their education, as well as finding and sustaining employment or work programmes.

Education can be provided at Kibble Forest View Primary in Lochwinnoch, Goudie Academy in Paisley or the Skills Academy, our employability and training centre with bases in Hillington and St Mirren in Paisley.
